
Bulls Soar Past Purple Eagles, 6-1

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – In the 101st all-time meeting between the programs, the University at Buffalo's men's tennis team continued its dominance over Niagara with a 6-1 victory over the Purple Eagles. The Bulls (9-7) now hold a 97-3-1 edge in the series.
UB picked up the opening doubles point with victories in the first and third matches. At number one, Wojceich Starakiewicz and Vusa Hove defeated Matthew Kane and Mathieu Lacasse, 8-4. The number three team of Alex Kalinin and Jason Shkodnik were also victorious as they defeated Brandon Gallegos and Jordan Tedesco-Blair by an 8-3 margin.
The Bulls won the top five matches in the singles competition and just missed the sweep as the number six match went to a super-tiebreaker. Travis Zappia, at fifth singles, scored a "double-bagel" win over Lacasse, 6-0, 6-0. Jason Simon, at third singles, also had a convincing victory as he defeated Joseph Zelic, 6-0, 6-1.
The Bulls are next in action on April 22 as when they host Ball State at 1:00 pm.
