
Bulls Fall At Rutgers, 7-0

PISCATAWAY, NJ - It was a tough Friday afternoon for the University at Buffalo women's tennis team as they lost at Rutgers, 7-0. The match was their fourth straight against an opponent from the Big East. The loss drops their record to 2-3 on the season.
Playing shorthanded the Bulls picked up their lone victory on the day in doubles action. The third doubles team of sophomore Shelby Bates and senior Aleksandra Petrova defeated Stef Balasa and Vanessa Petrini, 8-6. The contest at first doubles was also tight, although the number one team of Diana Popescu and Miranda Podlas, lost 9-7.
The Scarlet Knights didn't have much trouble in singles action, winning all six of the matches in straight sets, including at fifth singles where Dominica Nemec was making her spring debut. Bates and Podlas also played singles as newcomers made up half of today's lineup. Tamara Markovic moved up to play third singles today, while Popescu and Petrova played first and second singles, respectively.
The Bulls remain on the road tomorrow when they face Temple at 5:00 pm.
