
Bulls Conclude Play In Jacksonville With 5-1 Loss To Kansas

JACKSONVILLE, FL – The University at Buffalo softball team concluded its opening weekend of play on Sunday morning, falling to Kansas, 5-1. The loss drops Buffalo's record to 0-5 on the season.
Freshman Tori Speckman got the start on the mound for the Bulls, pitching a scoreless first. The Jayhawks got on the board first with a run in the top of the second, but the Bulls tied it up quickly in the bottom half of the second. With two outs in the inning, sophomore Andi Saucier hit her second career home run and the first of the season for UB, with a shot to left field.
The Jayhawks regained the lead in the top of the third inning scoring on two unearned runs. Kansas added another two runs in the top of the seventh, both with two outs in the inning.
Saucier went 2-for-3 for the Bulls in the game, while junior Kristin Waldron and freshmen Tori Pettine and Holly Luciano each had a hit. Speckman pitched the complete game for the Bulls striking out five batters.
The Bulls are back in action next weekend as they head to the 8th Annual Georgia Softball Classic. UB faces Marshall at 3:00 pm and Georgia at 7:00 pm on Friday.
