
Bulls Down Duquesne, 4-3

OLEAN, NY – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team scored a 4-3 win over Duquesne on Sunday in a neutral site match held at St. Bonaventure University in Olean.
The Bulls (2-1) scored the opening doubles point picking up victories in the number two and three matches. With each side scoring one doubles win, the Bulls clinched the point as George Tibil and Vusa Hove, playing at number two, combined to down Kyle O'Leary and Pete Carpenter, 8-5.
UB took the match with three wins in the first four singles matches to be completed. After Duquesne (3-2) scored a win at second singles to tie the match at 1-1, the Bulls won the next three matches to clinch the win. Freshman Jason Simon scored his first career victory with a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Steve Herchko in the number four match. Hove downed Max Rubin, 6-3, 6-0 in the number three match. Tibil, playing in the number one slot for the first time in his career, responded by gaining a straight-sets win over Aram Abgaryan. Tibil won the first set with an 11-9 tiebreaker then followed with a 6-3 victory in the second set.
The Bulls are off for the next two weeks. UB is next in action on Sunday, February 13 at Penn State.
