
Ashley Bertot Named to All-MAC Freshman Team

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo freshman Ashley Bertot was named to the Mid-American Conference All-Freshman softball team, as announced by the conference this afternoon. Bertot set the school record for single season stolen bases and started in all 36 games she appeared in for Buffalo.
Bertot finishes her first year with a batting average of .314, collecting 37 hits and six RBIs. She also set the single season school record for stolen bases, successfully stealing 26 in 27 attempts. Bertot's 26 stolen bases ranks third in the conference, and puts her fourth all-time in UB's record book. Bertot joins nine other freshmen on the 2010 All-MAC Freshman squad.
The Bulls will face the second seeded Ball State Cardinals, this afternoon, Wednesday, May 12 in the first round of the MAC Tournament. First pitch is set for 5 pm at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio. The MAC tournament is double elimination; therefore the Bulls will play another game on Thursday, May 13 at either 5 pm or 7:30 pm, depending on the outcome of the Buffalo vs. Ball State game.
