BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo senior hurdler John Connors has been named the Mid-American Conference's Men's Track Athlete of the Week. The league announced the weekly award from its Cleveland headquarters earlier this week.
Connors won the men's 400-meter hurdles at last Sunday's Big Red Invitational at Cornell University in Ithaca. Connors set a season-best with his finish in 53.30 as the Bulls captured two of the top three finishes in the race. UB's Brendan Hagerty placed third in the event in 54.88.
The senior is the third UB track performer to be selected as the league's Athlete of the Week. Men's javelin thrower Casey Garbaty and women's weight thrower Becky O'Brien were named the MAC's Male and Female Field Athletes of the Week on April 1.
The Bulls travel to Columbus, OH for this weekend's Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State University.
