GAINESVILLE, FL – The University at Buffalo men's and women's track and field squads sent some of their top athletes to the Florida Relays, which concluded Saturday, as the Bulls posted three new school records and some high finishes against strong competition.
Sophomore Kristy Woods finished third in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 56.77m, bettering her personal best by more than three meters. She also posted a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 16.14m to break the UB record in the event of 15.79m set by Sarah Vance in 2007. Sophomore teammate Becky O'Brien finished fifth overall with her best throw of 15.79m tying Vance's record. O'Brien also placed 11th in the discus competition at 44.48m.
Freshman women's sprinter Jamiee McClary broke the UB record in the 400-meters. McClary won her heat in 55.08, three-quarters of a second better than the record of 55.84 previously held by Udo Okeke (2000) and Stacy Downer (2004). McClary tied for 17th overall in a field of 46 racers.
For the UB men, shot putters Jake Madonia and Alex Stamatakis set season bests with their fifth- and sixth-place finishes. Madonia threw 17.46m while Stamatakis posted a throw of 17.26m as both posted their top throws on their sixth and final attempts.

The foursome of Dan Schichtel, Ezekiel Porter, Dan Harris and Brian Smith broke their week-old record from the Raleigh Relays with a 1:25.44 posting in Gainesville. The time was seven-hundredths of a second faster than last week and placed the Bulls eighth among 18 squads. The foursome also finished 17th in the 4x100-meter relay in 41.17.
