Bulls End Regular Season With 5-2 Win Over Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, OH – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team ended the regular season on a winning note on Saturday afternoon as the Bulls defeated Bowling Green, 5-2, at the Perrysburg Tennis Center. UB finishes the regular season at 8-8 and 4-4 in the MAC and will enter the tournament as the fifth seed this upcoming week.
The Bulls took the doubles point easily as the third doubles team ofDiana Popescu and Diana Toia defeated Jessica Easdale and Katie Grub, 8-3. UB then clinched the point at first singles as Denise Harijanto and Aleksandra Petrova defeated Christine Chiricosta and Maddy Eccleston, 8-5.
The Bulls continued their success in singles as Harijanto won her match at first singles, defeating Chiricosta easily, 6-0, 6-1. Popescu got UB's lead up to 3-0 as she picked up a win at third singles, defeating Katia Babina, 6-1, 6-2. The Falcons finally got on the board with a win at fourth singles, but the Bulls would clinch the match with a win at second singles when Petrova defeated Samantha Kintzel, 7-5, 6-2. Freshman Tamara Markovic also won for the Bulls as she overcame her first MAC loss of the season yesterday. Markovic defeated Grubb, 6-2, 6-0.
The Bulls will now begin preparations for the 2010 MAC Tournament which will begin for them on Friday against Toledo. The MAC Tournament will take place at Western Michigan.
