Men's Tennis Falls at Cleveland State, 4-3

ROCKY RIVER, OH – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team completed its regular season on Sunday afternoon with a 4-3 loss to Cleveland State at the River Oaks Racquet Club. The Bulls, who clinched the Mid-American Conference regular season championship on Saturday, finish the regular season with a 12-6 record.
The Bulls and Vikings (18-6) split the singles competitions after Cleveland State won the opening doubles point.
UB picked up a three-set win from first singles player Wojciech Starakiewicz as he downed Phil Orno, 6-4, 2-6, 6-1. The Bulls also scored singles wins in the number three and five matches. At number three, Kirill Kolomyts knocked off Ryan Hamning, 6-3, 6-4. In the number five match, Vusa Hovedefeated Chris Klepatz in three sets. The pair split the opening sets with each winning a tiebreaker. Hove took the victory with a 6-4 win in the final set.
Starakiewicz and George Tibil scored a doubles victory for the Bulls. The duo defeated Rob Fox and John Haley, 8-6, in the number two match.
The Bulls are off until the Mid-American Conference Championships in Muncie, IN where they will be the number one seed by virtue of their 5-0 league record. With the number one seed, UB earned a bye in the first round and will start play in the semifinals on April 30.
