
Kourtney Brown Named To Preseason All-MAC East Team

BUFFALO, NY – Senior Kourtney Brown has been named to the Preseason All-MAC East Team for the second straight season, the league office announced on Wednesday morning. Brown comes into the season as the league's reigning Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team All-MAC selection.
Brown finished last season averaging 17.8 points and 11.5 rebounds to lead the MAC in that category. Brown finished sixth in the nation in rebounding. She set the UB single-season rebounding record with 346 and places third in MAC history. Brown led the league with 63 blocked shots, second in school history. During the course of the season, Brown recorded 19 double-doubles, a school record, and had 11 20-point games. She had career highs of 33 points and 22 rebounds in UB's season-opening win over Niagara. Brown also set the school record for points in a season with 535, breaking her mark of 532 that she set last year. She became just the second player in Mid-American Conference history to hold both the school's single-season scoring and rebounding record, and the first to do it in the same season. Brown was named MAC East Player of the Week four times, tied for the most in the league.
This season, Brown is on pace to break several school records this season, including career scoring, career field goals, career rebounds and career blocks. She enters the season fifth in school history in scoring with 1,287 points, just the fourth player the score 1,000 points in her junior season. She is fourth in school history with 518 field goals, just 75 away from the school mark. In the rebounding department, Brown enters 2010-11 with 752 rebounds, just 170 away from the school record. The mark she is currently closest to is the blocked shots record, where she enters the season with 156, just seven away from tying for the most is school history.
Joining Brown on the East Division team is Kara Murphy from Akron, Lauren Prochaska from Bowling Green, Jamilah Humes from Kent State and Miami's Courtney Osborn. The West Division team is made up of Emily Maggert from Ball State, Tavelyn James from Eastern Michigan, Marke Freeman from Northern Illinois, Toledo's Naama Shafir and Western Michigan's Miame Giden.
The Bulls begin the season at home on Friday, November 12 as they host Howard. Fans can get their first look at the Bulls on Monday, November 8 as they host Daeman in an exhibition game.
