- Norb Baschnagel had a distinguished career as a student-athlete and a coach at UB, later joining the faculty at Clarion University, where he built the dominant women's tennis program in Pennsylvania in the 1980s.
- Norb began his coaching career as as assistant for the men's basketball team, which, during his tenure (1974-1982), compiled a 159-67 record and was ranked as high as 3rd in the country.
- As head coach of Clarion University tennis, his last 4 Golden Eagles teams captured Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships, posting a 57-1 dual match record and capturing a school-record (for all sports) 45 straight wins.
- His 1985 tennis team posted a then-school-record 9-4 campaign and the following season produced the 1st PSAC title in Clarion history.
- Norb, who was named conference coach of the year in 1988 and 1989, has been actively involved with a number of service organizations in his community, helping to raise more than a million dollars over the last 35 years.
- He played 3 seasons of basketball for the UB Bulls and averaged 10 points and 7.4 rebounds, he was the MVP on the 1964-1965 team that competed in the NCAA Division II Tournament, then served as the top assistant on the Len Serfustini and Ed Muto-coached UB hoops teams from 1965-1973.
- UB went 19-3 during his senior year, with Norb being voted to the NCAA Mid-East Regional All-Tournament First Team.
