Zach Malecki joined the State University of New York at Buffalo in September of 2026. He serves as the Director of Football Medical Services/Head Football Athletic Trainer.

Prior to joining the staff in Buffalo, Zach served as an Associate Athletic Trainer at the University of Cincinnati, as well as Northwestern University. He has held the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer at Butler University and Northern Kentucky University.

Zach began his intercollegiate sports medicine career as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at nearby Canisius University, where he earned his Master’s Degree in Health and Human Performance in 2016.

Zach has additional work experience in the private sector, having served as a dual role athletic trainer/strength and conditioning coach at Excelsior Orthopedics. Zach was a seasonal assistant athletic trainer for the Cleveland Browns during the 2013 season.
In addition to his athletic training certification, Zach is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA. Zach holds additional certifications as a Corrective Exercise Specialist and Performance Enhancement Specialist through the NASM. Zach is a Level 1 Certified Coach through USA Weightlifting.

A Buffalo native, Zach received his Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from SUNY Brockport in 2013.
Zach resides in Cheektowaga with his wife, Kelsey, and their daughter, Kennedy.
