Jeremy Applegate is entering his 24th year at the University at Buffalo Division of Athletics and his sixth as Associate Athletic Director for Development & Premium Seating. Applegate is the all-time leading fundraiser in UB Athletics history by helping to raise in excess of $20 million dollars. In the 2022-23 fiscal year alone, Applegate helped guide the department to its largest single-year cash collection in school history, as it generated over $4.3 million.Â
In his current capacity, Applegate focuses on increasing the sales of Premium Seating, which includes the UB Football’s Edmund Gicewicz Club, UB Stadium Suites, football priority season tickets, and courtside seats for men’s and women’s basketball. Applegate also is responsible for major gift fundraising in the Buffalo community. The Western New York native also serves as the departmental liaison to the men's basketball, women's basketball and wrestling programs.
In addition, Applegate serves as the primary point of contact for the UB Athletics Golf Classic, which has sold out in each of the previous five seasons. The 2023 edition UB Athletics Golf Classic generated a school-record gross proceeds.
The proceeds from the annual event help to support the Athletics Community Care Ticket Program, which provide football and basketball complimentary tickets to charitable organizations.Â
In his previous capacity as the Associate Athletic Director of Corporate Sales & Strategic Partnerships, Applegate helped raise a school-record $1.75 million dollars in the sales of corporate partnerships in 2016. He was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of activating sponsor programs for 60 plus partners each year. Sponsorship sales increase by 50% during his tenure and he made significant contributions in selling 20% of football season tickets through the sales sponsorships. He assisted in establishing TEAM UB, a rights holder program for partners that designated Official status and the ability to use UB Athletics marks.
Applegate got his start in sports marketing in 1992 working in ticket sales for the Buffalo Bisons, a Triple-A minor league baseball team, for two seasons. He worked in the private sector for six years before returning to sports in 1999 as a ticket sales associate for the athletic department.Â
He has been recognized nationally by.the National Association for Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) by winning one gold and two bronze awards for sponsorship activation and fulfillment. Currently he is a member of NACDA, Buffalo Niagara Sales and Marketing Executives, and the Advertising Club of Buffalo.
Applegate received his Bachelor’s degree in a Business Administration and Marketing from the State University of New York College at Fredonia where he played varsity hockey for the Blue Devils. He has been involved in coaching youth hockey, baseball, and soccer. His hockey teams have achieved numerous national rankings.
Applegate and his wife, Trish reside in Lakeview, New York with his two children Emily and Evan.
