Aaron Stang joined the University at Buffalo Athletics Department in August 2019 as the Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Affairs. He was promoted to Associate Athletic Director for Academic Affairs in 2020 and to Senior Associate Athletic Director for Championship Resources in 2023. In his current role, Stang serves as a member of the executive team and oversees the Office of Student-Athlete Success, NIL strategy and initiatives, and the student-athlete experience. He is also the sport administrator for Football and Softball.
Stang came to UB having spent three years at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he was Associate Director of Academic Services, overseeing the academic support program for all football student-athletes.
Prior to arriving at Wisconsin, Stang was an Athletic Academic Counselor at Florida Atlantic University for three years. At FAU, Stang was responsible for providing academic support for student-athletes in football, indoor volleyball, beach volleyball, men's and women's cross country, and women's track. He also served as advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Previously Stang also worked as an Athletic Academic Advising Intern at the University of Miami from 2012-13, and as an Academic Advising Intern at FAU from 2011-12.
Originally from Hamburg, New York, Stang received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, where he was also a member of the Men's Basketball team from 2006-10. He went on to earn his Master's degree in Sport Management from SUNY Cortland in 2011 and Masters in Higher Education Administration from Stony Brook University in 2022.
