
Bulls Set to Send Five Divers to NCAA Zone A Diving Championships

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo swimming and diving program is sending select qualified divers to the 2026 NCAA Zone A Diving Championships, hosted in Annapolis, Maryland. Five Buffalo divers will participate at the regional competition between Monday, March 9th, and Tuesday, March 10th, competing to qualify for the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships.
ONE-METER
The one-meter diving event is scheduled to take place on Monday, with two preliminary rounds due to a large number of qualifiers. The first preliminary round will begin at 10:30 a.m., with the second preliminary round scheduled for 3:45 p.m. The top 18 divers from the preliminary rounds will advance to the finals scheduled for 6:45 p.m. The top six finishers after 12 total dives will advance to the NCAA Championships on March 18th.
The Bulls have four divers qualified for the one-meter event, with Presley Dorsett, Mallory Hanna, Adele Melamud and Sophie Meuwissen all set to compete. Meuwissen (2nd, 282.60) and Hanna (3rd, 279.80) earned medals in the one-meter at Mid-American Conference Championships. Meuwissen's score of 282.60 also ranks ninth in program history. Dorsett's season-best score of 283.30 came in the consolation finals round of the one-meter at conference championships. Melamud's personal record score of 279.38 was set against Duquesne this season. Divers had to post a score of 265 or better to qualify for the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships.
THREE-METER
Three-meter diving is scheduled for Tuesday and will feature two preliminary rounds, one at 10:30 a.m. and the second at 3:45 p.m. The top 18 will advance to the finals scheduled for 6:45 p.m. The top five divers with the highest 12-dive scores will advance to the NCAA Championships on March 20th.
The Bulls have five divers in the three-meter event, with Dorsett, Hanna, Melamud, Meuwissen and Maggie Meyers all qualified. Melamud leads the Bulls in the event this season, posting the roster's top score of 321.55 at the Zippy Invite. The freshman's personal record also ranks seventh in program history. Meuwissen's season best of 293.10 was set at the program's season-opening meet against Cornell and Niagara. Hanna set her season best against Duquesne (283.10). Meyers qualified with a score of 287.55 at the UB Invite in November, marking the junior's first appearance at Zone Diving Championships. Dorsett rounds out the Bulls qualifiers with a score of 280.10 set at the Zippy Invite. Divers had to post a score of 280 or better to qualify for the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships.
