1/20/2026 10:08:00 PM | Men's Basketball
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball program (13-6, 3-4 MAC) lost to the visiting Akron Zips (15-4, 6-1 MAC) on Tuesday evening, 82-63.
Ryan Sabol led the Bulls with 26 points as he went 5-for-12 from three-point range. This marked his 16th career 20-point performance and his 14th game with five or more threes. Derrick Talton Jr. played all 40 minutes for the Bulls as he recorded the team's first double digit assist game this season, finishing with 10. The last time a Bull played every minute in a game came in the 2023-24 season.
Tim Oboh snagged seven rebounds as Noah Batchelor (6), Talton Jr. (6) and Ezra McKenna (5) helped the Bulls on the glass. Both Batchelor and Sabol led the team with a pair of blocks each.
It was a tough night on the offensive end for the Bulls as they shot just 35.4% from the floor and 25.0% from three-point range.
The Zips led wire-to-wire as the Bulls couldn't take advantage of winning the opening tip. The Bulls fell into an early 6-0 hole before Sabol got them on the board with a jumper outside the paint. With 13:04 left in the first half, the Zips extended their lead to 19-2. The Bulls tried to cut the lead down at the half, but trailed 43-27 after the opening 20 minutes.
The slow first half caught up to Buffalo as the second half was practically even as the Zips outscored the Bulls, 39-36. The half time deficit was too much to overcome as Akron won the contest.
