Swim & Dive To Compete at Ball State on Saturday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo swimming and diving program is hitting the road this weekend to compete at Ball State University on Saturday, taking on the Cardinals at 11 a.m.
The Bulls enter the Mid-American Conference meet following a win at home over Duquesne, defeating the Dukes, 165-135. The swim and dive program is 4-1 in head-to-head competitions on the season. The meet at Ball State will mark the 20th meeting between the programs, with the Bulls leading the all-time series 10-9. Ball State holds a 2-1 record this season.
The swim and dive program heads down the home stretch of the regular season with numerous accomplishments to date. Adele Melamud was named the MAC Female Diver of the Week on Tuesday, the second time the freshman diver earned the honor. Melamud won both the one-meter (279.38) and three-meter (315.38) versus Duquesne, setting a new personal record in the one-meter that joined the program's all-time leaderboard to rank 10th. The freshman's accomplishment marks the fourth MAC Athlete of the Week award the Bulls have earned this season. Melamud has won two, with Presley Dorsett earning another in December and Bella Forsman also winning the award in November.
The Bulls have posted 10 personal records this season that joined the program's all-time leaderboards. Four Buffalo freshmen combined to post six of the 10 record performances, including Pinar Donmez setting a school record in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:13.98) and ranking top three in the 100-yard breaststroke (3rd, 1:01.72). Forsman also earned the ninth spot in program history in the 100-yard butterfly, marking the fifth event the sophomore has joined the all-time top 10 in.
The Bulls and Cardinals begin action in the Lewellen Aquatic Center at 11 a.m. on Saturday. A complete schedule for Buffalo Swimming & Diving can be found here. The Bulls will host their senior day on Saturday, January 31st in the Alumni Arena Natatorium, competing against Miami (OH) at 11 a.m.
