BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo Athletics Department proudly announces the launch of the Bulls Championship Fund (BCF) — a comprehensive revenue initiative designed to elevate the department's competitive resources, enhance its position within the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and beyond, and adapt to the evolving landscape of collegiate athletics.
In launching this initiative, UB Athletics will phase out both the Nickel City Collective and the former Blue & White Fund name, unifying all philanthropic and partnership efforts under the Bulls Championship Fund banner. These changes mark a strategic consolidation of resources under the BCF umbrella to better align philanthropic, corporate, and community support with UB's evolving goals.
"This transition to the Bulls Championship Fund allows us to align our external efforts and prioritize revenue growth that directly benefits and strengthens the collegiate experience of our student-athletes," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Mark Alnutt. "At UB, we continue to believe in the power of our community to provide us a competitive edge amongst our peers as it pertains to competing for championships, along with the retention and recruitment of our student-athletes."
The Bulls Championship Fund represents UB's unified approach to revenue generation, encompassing three key areas: ticket sales, corporate sponsorships, and philanthropic contributions.
The Bulls Championship Fund has set an ambitious goal to reach 3,000 members by 2028. This growing base of support is projected to generate $8.5 million annually to fuel three strategic priorities:
Revenue Share – Ensuring UB remains competitive in the evolving NIL and student-athlete compensation space
Facility Upgrades – Enhancing training, practice, and competition spaces across all sports
Department Support – Investing in coaches, operations, scholarship opportunities, and holistic student-athlete development
As the collegiate athletics environment continues to shift, the BCF will remain flexible and forward-thinking, serving as the primary platform for alumni, donors, fans, sponsors, and partners to make a tangible impact on UB's 380+ student-athletes and the university community.
"The Bulls Championship Fund is our call to action — an invitation to alumni, fans, donors, and corporate partners to rally around a shared vision for UB Athletics," said Sean Ferrera, Deputy Athletics Director for External Relations. "Our staff is energized by this opportunity and looks forward to working arm-in-arm with our supporters to build a sustainable future and elevate the student-athlete experience across the board."
