BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo men's basketball head coach George Halcovage III announced the signings of freshmen guard Evan Romano and freshman forward Aleksa Vlajic to the roster for the 2025-26 season.
Romano, a 6'3 guard from Holmdel, NJ, was a standout at St. Rose High School where he averaged 13.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game as a senior. He scored in double figures in 22 of 30 games, including six 20+ point performances and a 30-point game in a win at Brick Memorial. He was a two-time Shore Conference champion and led the Purple Roses to a state championship in 2024. Additionally, he scored 27 points while adding nine rebounds and three assists in the South Jersey Boys Non-Public Championship game.
Vlajic, a 6'10 forward, comes to Buffalo from Belgrade, Serbia. He spent time with the Adidas NextGen EuroLeague U18 team and the U18 Serbian National team before making his way to the United States where he played for the Hoosac School, averaging 20.2 points,10.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 44% shooting from beyond the arc to help propel the Owls to #97 in the national prep school rankings.
"It's my pleasure to officially welcome Aleksa and Evan into our Buffalo basketball program," said Halcovage III. "Aleksa is a highly skilled forward that poses a true inside-out threat to opposing teams. His time competing with the Serbian National team and in one of the top high school prep leagues in the country have more than prepared him to make an immediate impact at the collegiate level here at Buffalo."
"Evan is a tough and talented New Jersey guard. He is a tenacious competitor who can score and make plays on and off the ball at a high level. Evan will develop into an excellent player for us here at UB. Let's all throw our Horns Up to welcome Aleksa, Evan and their families to the 716."
