
UB Student-Athletes Record Second-Highest GPA in Department History for Spring Semester

BUFFALO, NY – It was another successful semester in the classroom for UB student-athletes as they posted a 3.317 grade point average for the spring semester. It was the second-highest GPA in department history.
Soccer claimed the top spot for the spring semester with a 3.6528 team grade point average. Men's tennis led all men's teams with a 3.463 GPA. Women's track and field posted their highest grade point average in program history with a 3.485.
Women's track and field also had the most improved semester from the fall, increasing their GPA by 0.066 points, followed by volleyball (+0.013) and soccer (+0.0008).
For the second straight semester, every team had a 3.0 grade point average or better – soccer (3.6528), swimming and diving (3.6527), volleyball (3.634), women's tennis (3.610), women's track and field (3.485), men's tennis (3.463), women's cross country (3.419), men's cross country (3.279), men's basketball (3.268), women's basketball (3.245), softball (3.237), wrestling (3.199), men's track and field (3.166) and football (3.105).
The department had 49 student-athletes with perfect 4.0 GPAs and 185 posted a 3.5 or better. In all, 270 student-athletes (74 percent) reached the 3.0 plateau.
"This academic year marks the best in our department's history, and I couldn't be more proud of our student-athletes for their dedication and achievement," Senior Associate Athletic Director for Championship Resources Aaron Stang said. "Their commitment to excellence in the classroom reflects the championship mindset we strive for across all areas. I'm incredibly grateful to our academic support staff and coaches for the guidance and encouragement they provide every day. Together, we've set a new standard for academic success at UB."
