BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo women's basketball head coach Kristen Sharkey has announced the addition of Janyah Bohanon to the roster for the 2025-26 season. She has two years of eligibility remaining.
Bohanon, a 6'0" guard from Cleveland, Ohio, comes to Buffalo from Howard University where she appeared in 55 games across two seasons for the Bison, providing a spark both offensively and defensively. As a freshman, Bohanon appeared in 26 games, shooting 30% from the field while recording 16 assists and15 steals. She recorded a career best 14 points against N.C. Central. She continued her steady play as a sophomore, appearing in 29 games and recording three double-digit scoring performances, including a season-high 13 points against Coppin State.
Before college, Bohanon starred for Warrensville Heights where she was an All-Conference selection as a senior after averaging 19.6 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while also adding 3.4 assists, 3.5 steals and 4.3 blocks per contest and shooting over 60% from the floor to help lead the Tigers to a 22-3 overall record and a perfect 14-0 conference mark and a Division III Northeast 4 District championship.
"Janyah is a dynamic scorer," said Sharkey. "She comes with a focus and a desire to help us win which makes her an important piece for us to build around. She can slash to the rim and has an amazing pull up game that allows her to elevate over any defender. She is super long and gets in passing lanes which will work great in our zone defense, and she brings a high basketball IQ and a hunger that you don't find in many young people. She's coming with a chip on her shoulder and is ready to work. I'm thrilled to welcome Janyah to Buffalo!"
