
Men’s Basketball Adds Daniel Freitag to the 2025-26 Roster

BUFFALO, N.Y. – University at Buffalo men's basketball Head Coach George Halcovage III announced the signing of guard Daniel Freitag (Wisconsin) to the roster for the 2025-26 season.
In his lone season with the Wisconsin Badgers, Freitag appeared in 14 games for the Badgers. He helped Wisconsin reach the Big Ten Championship game and the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. Coming out of high school, Freitag was ranked the 11th-best point guard in the nation and the 104th nationally ranked player according to 247Sports. The Bloomington, Minn. Native was a finalist for 2024 Minnesota Mr. Basketball. He also was tabbed to the First-Team All-State Tournament squad after leading Breck High School to a 31-1 record and a Class 2A state championship. In his senior season, he averaged 26 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 2.5 steals per game.

"Daniel is a big time, dynamic guard who plays the game with great physicality and pace! His ability as a playmaker and to score at all three levels takes our team's versatility to the next level.
