Daniel Freitag Repeats as MAC Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced their weekly honors on Monday afternoon. Reigning MAC Player of the Week Daniel Freitag took home the honors for a second straight week.
Daniel Freitag led the Bulls to a perfect 3-0 record on the week as UB improved to 8-0 on the season. This is just the second time in the program's Division I history the team has started 8-0 and the first time since their historic 2018-19 season. Freitag led the Bulls in points (56) and rebounds (17) during their three-game road stretch. Against the VMI Keydets at the Skechers Fort Myers Tip-Off, he scored 17 points as he went 14-for-16 from the free throw line. In their final game in Florida, he scored 18 points including the game winner at the buzzer as the Bulls won, 73-71. He finished with nine defensive rebounds, three assists and a pair of blocks against the Bucknell Bison. The guard also went 4-of-9 from three-point range in the win.
In Saturday's game against crosstown rival Canisius, Freitag buried a career-high six three-pointers, which was a week-high across the conference in a single game. He finished with 21 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals. On the week we scored the most points in the MAC with 56, was sixth with 18.7 ppg, made the most three-pointers with 11, sixth in defensive rebounds with 5.7, first with 17 defensive rebounds, played the most minutes at 37.3, and was second in three-pointers per game at 3.67. From the floor he shot 13-of-34 (.412), as he was 17-of-22 (.773) from the free throw line and 11-of-26 (.423) from three-point range. After helping the team receive their first AP Top-25 vote since March of 2019, the Bulls moved up to No. 13 in the College Insider Mid-Major Top-25.
The Bulls are back in action on Saturday as they host the St. Bonaventure Bonnies (7-1, 0-0 Atlantic 10) at 2 p.m. at Alumni Arena. Buy your tickets here!
