Bulls Shine on Day Two of Zippy Invite

AKRON, OH – The University at Buffalo swimming and diving team competed in day two of the four-day Zippy Invite on Friday. The Bulls closed out the second day in second place with 625 points, posting a top ten finish in all four of the individual competitions and third in the evening team relay event.
In The Pool
Freshman Isabella Forsman placed fourth in the finals round of the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:02.46. The freshman took first place in the morning preliminary round with a new personal record time of 2:01.71, which ranks seventh all-time in program history.
Ava Cunningham broke her personal record in the 500-yard freestyle twice on Friday, finishing sixth in the finals with her best time of the day (4:56.92). Cunningham finished fourth of 34 swimmers in the preliminary round, breaking her previous personal best time of 4:58.02 to qualify for the finals. Elise McCaul placed 12th in the finals with a season-best time of 4:59.36 and Abbey Gardner took 14th (5:03.80) to put three Bulls inside the top 15 finishers.
Mia Naccarella finished ninth in the 50-yard freestyle finals with a time of 23.09. Jillian Strine (14th, 23.61) and Amanda Jurgelon (16th, 23.89) posted new personal records in the finals. Sawyer Bosley took 19th (23.54) to put four Bulls in the top 20. Forsman took 23rd in the finals with a time of 23.86.
In the preliminary round, Naccarella placed 10th of 76 swimmers with a time of 23.44. Strine (14th, 23.63) and Jurgelon (17th, 23.90) posted top 20 finishes, breaking their previous personal records then too. Nicole Aguilar (27th, 23.90) had a season-best time in the preliminary round.
The Bulls closed out day two in the pool with a third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay and a season-best time of 3:40.19. The Bulls' relay time also ranks eighth all-time in the program record book.
Diving Well
Marialis Kwak won the one-meter diving finals, placing first with a score of 295.20. With the win, Kwak continued her streak of individual diving wins, winning all seven competitions she's participated in this season. Kwak also placed first in the preliminary round with a score of 300.45.
Presley Dorsett took third (265.70), Sophie Meuwissen finished fourth (264.10) and Mallory Hanna placed fifth (263.70) in the finals to put four Bulls in the top five finishers. Meuwissen's score was a personal record for the sophomore. Hanna's preliminary round score of 280.60 was a new personal record that ranks ninth all-time in program history.
Kaylee Donovan (9th, 232.15) and Maggie Meyers (10th, 225.00) posted top ten finishes in the preliminary round field of 22 divers.
