Dolac and Fuqua Named to Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo football team had two players named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch, presented annually to the best defensive player in college football. Linebacker Shaun Dolac and safety Marcus Fuqua, both first-team All-MAC selections in 2022, were named to the list.
Last season, Dolac led the Mid-American Conference and ranked second in the nation in tackles with 147. He had a school-record 97 solo tackles which was tops in the nation. He also led the Bulls in tackles for loss (13.5) and sacks (4.5).
Fuqua was an Associated Press third-team All-American in 2022 after leading the nation in interceptions with seven. He ranked fourth on the team in tackles with 65 and added 2.5 tackles for loss, five pass breakups and two fumble recoveries.
The Football Writers Association of American (FWAA) and the Charlotte Touchdown Club will announce finalists for the 2023 trophy on Nov. 15 and the winner will be unveiled Dec. 4 at the Bronko Nagurski Awards Banquet in Charlotte, N.C.
