
Buffalo Posts a Combined 3.115 GPA for Spring Semester

BUFFALO, NY – It was another successful semester in the classroom for UB student-athletes as they posted a 3.115 grade point average for the spring semester. It was the ninth straight semester the Bulls posted a GPA of 3.0 or better.
Women's tennis claimed the top spot for the spring semester with a 3.643 team grade point average. Men's cross country led all men's teams with a 3.502 GPA.
Men's basketball had the most improved semester from the fall, increasing their GPA by 0.382 points, followed by football (+0.255) and men's cross country (+0.185).
Overall, 11 teams had a 3.0 grade point average or better – women's tennis (3.643), swimming and diving (3.609), soccer (3.593), volleyball (3.530), men's cross country (3.502), men's tennis (3.497), women's cross country (3.404), women's track and field (3.276), men's track and field (3.230), women's basketball (3.111) and softball (3.095).
The department had 35 student-athletes with perfect 4.0 GPAs and 131 posted a 3.5 or better. In all, 217 student-athletes (64 percent) reached the 3.0 plateau. In addition, UB had 60 student-athletes graduate in May.
"It's a privilege to be able to witness the amount of work that our student-athletes put into their academics on a daily basis," Associate Athletic Director for Academic Affairs Aaron Stang said. "With over 215 of our student-athletes with a 3.0 GPA, 131 who earned at least a 3.5, and 35 who earned a 4.0 during the semester, our student-athletes continue to show they are more than just athletes. It is clear they will do whatever it takes to be successful here at UB and they will go on to make a positive impact on the world once they graduate."
