Bulls Sweep Lafayette To Open Spring Training Trip

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team opened their spring training trip with a 7-0 sweep of Lafayette on Tuesday afternoon.
UB took all three matches in doubles, dropping just two total sets. The duos of Pia Schwarz and Ambre Amat and Azra Deniz Comlek and Deanne Choo won 6-0 at first and second doubles, respectively, and Lolina Schietekat Sedas and Mariana Carvajal Torres followed with a 6-2 win at the third position.
Singles action continued with straight-set wins in four of six matches. Choo was dominant in a 6-0, 6-1 win at sixth singles and Schwarz cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win at first. Amat continued her strong play with a 6-4, 6-4 win at third singles and Torres picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win in the fifth position.
Senior Gabriella Akopyan overcame a dropped first set to win her match 4-6, 6-2, 10-2 at fourth singles and Comlek completed the sweep with a three-set comeback win of her own, 3-6, 7-6, 10-4 at second.
The Bulls wrap up their trip tomorrow with a match against George Washington at 10:30am.
