BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo Department of Athletics and Recreation is excited to announce the return of its annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) celebration, Saturday, February 4 during the women's basketball game against Northern Illinois at Alumni Arena. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. with a multi-sport clinic beforehand in the Ed Wright Practice Facility beginning at 11am.
"It's such an honor to host our NGWSD events and to celebrate ALL student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and influencers (past & present) who inspire greatness through sport," said Senior Associate Athletics Director/SWA D'Ann Keller. "I am extremely proud of our multi-dimensional approach our UB NGWSD planning committee took as we embraced the opportunity to Lead Her Forward by showing how powerful sports can be by honoring our women's sports teams, hosting a youth sports clinic, and launching the inaugural Junior Gameday Helper – a pathway for girls to explore a variety of professional paths in the sports industry. It's a day to express gratitude for what we've accomplished as well as a day to be excited about the future!"
Before the basketball game, members of UB's varsity athletic teams will lead skills clinics and sign autographs for kids of all ages in attendance. The clinic is open to girls grades 4-8. Registration includes a ticket to the women's basketball game, lunch and a UB Athletics gift. Every participant must pre-register, no walkups allowed. Parents/guardians will be sent a special ticket link to purchase a discounted ticket once they have submitted their child's registration. Participants are asked to wear athletic shoes and gear and bring their own individual water bottle.

Registration to be a Junior Gameday Helper is also open for girls in grades 4-8 to be part of the game-day experience by shadowing different staff positions. Available spots range from marketing to ticketing to in-game music, from spirit squad to social media to equipment.
Each applicant must submit a short video no more than one minute in length explaining why they would like to be part of the game-day team.
