Seven Bulls Named to Phil Steele’s Preseason All-MAC Team

BUFFALO, NY – Seven members of the University at Buffalo football team were named to Phil Steele's Preseason All-MAC Team. Linebacker James Patterson and defensive tackle Daymond Williams were named to the first team. Wide receiver Quian Williams was named to the second team. Offensive lineman Gabe Wallace and defensive end Max Michel were named to the third team and linebacker Shaun Dolac and offensive lineman Nick Hartnett were named to the fourth team.
Patterson is a two-time All-MAC First Team selection. The senior linebacker led the Bulls and ranked second in the MAC in tackles with a career-best 116 in 2021. He added a team-high 13 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, an interception and a forced fumble.
Daymond Williams was an All-MAC Second Team selection in 2021. He led the Bulls and ranked sixth in the MAC in sacks with 6.5. He added 46 tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss while playing both defensive tackle and defensive end.
In 2021, Quian Williams made an immediate impact at wide receiver in his first season since transferring from Eastern Michigan. He had a team-best 64 receptions for 835 yards and two touchdowns. His 64 catches tied for eighth in program history for a single season. He was named third-team All-MAC.
Wallace played both tackle and guard in 2021 while starting all 12 games. He blocked for an offense that averaged 410 yards of total offense and 195.5 rushing yards per game.
Michel started the first eight games at defensive end in 2021 before missing the remainder of the season with an injury. He had 36 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, four sacks two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery on the year.
Dolac had a strong finish to the 2021 campaign. Over the final two games, he had 24 tackles and three tackles for loss. For the season, he had 37 tackles, six tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
Hartnett is a newcomer after transferring from Virginia Military Academy. He started 28 games over three seasons at VMI at both center and guard and was an All-SoCon First Team selection in 2020 and 2021.
The Bulls kick off the 2022 season at Maryland on September 3.
