BUFFALO, NY – UB's Hannah Sullivan, a junior on the cross country and track and field teams, was one of 200 student-athletes selected nationally to attend the NCAA's Career in Sport Forum, which was held at the NCAA's headquarters in Indianapolis from June 2-5.
"I am so grateful to have been selected to attend such a wonderful event sponsored by the NCAA," said Sullivan. "Each day we got to listen and interact with influential people in sports, both college and professional. We had multiple small group sessions that allowed me to hone in on my transferable skills, and I was able to reflect on these skills with my other group members. I was able to expand my leadership abilities, while highlighting the skills I already possess and the ones that need improvement. These skills will surely benefit my future career in sports."
The forum allows attendees to network with peers and decision-makers at the campus, conference, and national level of college athletics. Content will meet the following program objectives:
"I was able to meet so many people that have similar interests as me, and this helped me grow as an individual throughout the weekend," Sullivan added. "A few takeaways from the weekend from our wonderful speakers: the time is now, be yourself, have confidence, and know your why! We also learned the power of connections and networking, and I was able to improve these skills greatly. The various speakers touched on so many different aspects of a career in sport, and it only solidified my dream of become a sports lawyer. This is an experience I will never forget, and I am so grateful to have met so many amazing people, while learning so much in the process."
