BUFFALO, NY – Head coach Jim Whitesell has announced the addition of Kanye Jones to the UB men's basketball program. Jones spent the last season at Boston College in the ACC.
A native of Orlando, FL, Jones played in 30 games off the bench for the Eagles, averaging just under 10 minutes a game. He started the year with 12 points and five rebounds against Dartmouth and added eight points late in the season against Florida State.
Standing at 6-4 and 170lbs, Jones was a 2020-21 FHSAA Class 7A All-State selection for Windemere H.S. As a senior, the big, physical guard displayed his abilities on both ends of the court as he averaged nearly 21.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game as the Wolverines advanced to the FHSAA Class 7A region 2 semifinals. As a junior, he averaged 19.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. In two seasons (41 games) at Windemere, he scored over 1,000 career points and connected on 124 3-pointers at a 39.0% clip.
"Kanye is a versatile guard that can not only score the basketball at a high clip, but is also a very good defender," said Whitesell. "We have had an eye on Kanye for a while and we think he will fit in very well with our style of play. We can't wait to have him on campus!"
