BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo wrestling team dropped their home opener to Binghamton, 22-9, at Alumni Arena on Sunday night. It was another solid effort for this young Bulls squad who battled but came up just short in many of the matches.
After falling behind, 3-0, in the dual, Tommy Maddox got the Bulls on the board with a 10-5 decision over Anthony Sobotker to fire up the crowd.
Matt Ryan (141) and Kaleb Burgess (149) followed with close losses. Ryan dropped a 3-2 decision and Burgess dropped a 2-1 decision.
Michael Petite cut the Binghamton lead to 9-6 with a 3-2 decision over Fin Nadeau. It was Petite's first action of the season.
After dropping the next two bouts, Giuseppe Hoose continued his early season dominance by taking out #19 Jacob Nolan. Hoose trailed 3-1 in the third before getting an escape, a takedown and was awarded a stalling point to pull out the 5-3 decision.
Buffalo is back in action on Friday when they host Gannon at 7 pm at Alumni Arena.
