McNulty Named MAC East Division Special Teams Player of the Week

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo kicker Alex McNulty was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Special Teams Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. It is the third time this season the senior kicker has earned the honor and fourth time in his career.

McNulty made all five of his kicks against Central Michigan, including two field goals and three extra points. He made a 42-yard field goal just before the half and then connected on a season-best 54-yard field goal to give the Bulls a 27-24 lead in the fourth quarter. His 54-yarder was one yard shy of his own school record. It brought his season total to 18 made field goals, a program record for a single season.

A native of Caledonia, NY, McNulty is 18-of-20 on field goal attempts on the season and is 34-of-35 on extra points. He continues to ascend the UB record books as he is the program leader in career points scored by a kicker (285) and career extra points (156) and ranks third in program history in career field goals (43).

Last week, McNulty was named a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, given annually to the best kicker in the nation.
