
Women’s Basketball Announces 2023 Signing Class

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo women's basketball head coach Becky Burke announced her first signing class on Wednesday afternoon. Ella Take and Paula Lopez will join the UB for the 2023-24 season.
Paula Lopez is a 5'7" shooting guard who hails from Spain. She is coming off a big summer in which competed for the Argentinian national team at the FIBA U17 World Cup where averaged 11.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.
Coach Burke on Lopez: "Paula is an international player that has tremendous high level basketball experience overseas. Her experience and ability to shoot the basketball are things that our team will greatly benefit from. She brings a different flare and playing style that I think our fans will really enjoy getting behind. I am excited four Paula's experience here at Buffalo and in the United States."
Ella Take is a 6'0" wing from Kingston, Ontario who plays for Capital Courts Academy where she played in seven games during the 2021-22 season averaging 2.1 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. She also plays for the Become One E40 AAU program.
Coach Burke on Take: "Ella is the type of player that will do absolutely whatever is asked of her to help her team win, with zero hesitation. She plays with an energy and enthusiasm that is extremely hard to find, and that we absolutely had to have in our gym every single day. MAC championships are won with talented players like Ella, who also possess those special intangible qualities of which she has so many."
