
Bulls Start 2022-23 Season Strong in Rutgers Invite

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The University at Buffalo women's swimming and diving team (0-0, 0-0 MAC) faced off against Rutgers, Felician, and LIU on Friday and Saturday. The meet was not scored, but the Bulls turned in strong performances throughout the two-day invite.
Friday, Oct. 7
THE DIVING WELL
In the 1-meter dive. Victoria Franz finished first with a score of 301.13. Patricia Arceri finished in fourth with a score of 259.35, and Marialis Kwak (237.83), Presley Dorsett (227.25), and Kaylee Donovan (204.23) finished seventh, eighth, and ninth respectively.
THE POOL
In the 200 freestyle relay, the team of Amanda Neeb, Madison McDonough, Allison Stockwell, and Lena Li claimed fourth place with a time of 1:39.42.
Several Bulls made their collegiate debuts in the 500 freestyle. Freshmen Karen Austin (5:08.12) and Elise McCaul (5:09.16) finished third and fourth, respectively. Senior Maddy Rogan rounded out the top-five with a time of 5:11.42. Freshmen Kaley Ream (seventh place, 5:14.44) and Ava Cunningham (ninth place, 5:15.00) also finished in the top-10.
In the 200 IM, six bulls finished in the top-10. Lena Li took home second place with a time of 2:09.19.
Toni Naccarella won the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.58.
In the final event of the day, the team of Mia Naccarella, Katie Pollock, Clarice Fisher, and Toni Naccarella won the 400 medley relay in 3:48.16.
Saturday, Oct. 8
THE DIVING WELL
Franz was victorious in the 3-meter dive with a score of 318.98. Kwak finished fifth with a score of 253.58.
THE POOL
The Saturday morning session began with the 400 IM, where Austin took second place in 4:35.28 and Taeghan Brezovski finished third in 4:36.72. Austin also claimed third place in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 17:33.49.
The Bulls also took second and third in the 100 butterfly, with Fisher finishing in second place in 56.64 and Neeb claiming third in 56.76.
UB's top finisher in the 200 freestyle was Sawyer Bosley, taking fourth place with a time of 1:54.26.
Pollock (1:05.15) and Michaela Morgus (1:06.40) finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke. Pollock was the Bulls' top finisher in the 200 breaststroke with a third-place finish in 2:24.14.
Mia Naccarella took second place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.28, and in the 200 backstroke in 2:02.79.
In the 400 freestyle relay, the team of Alicia Wood, Katie Pollock, Nicole Aguilar, and Toni Naccarella finished in second place in 3:30.75.
Toni Naccarella won the 100 freestyle, finishing in 51.03.
UB recorded second, third, and fourth-place finishes in the 200 butterfly, with Neeb taking home second place in 2:04.50.
The Bulls capped off Saturday with another relay victory, this time in the 200 medley relay. Once again, the team of Mia Naccarella, Katie Pollock, Clarice Fisher, and Toni Naccarella claimed first place with a time of 1:43.80.

The Bulls are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 22 as the team hosts Cornell and Niagara at 12 p.m. in the Alumni Arena Natatorium.
