BOSTON, January 26, 2021 – The Basketball Tournament (TBT) – the $1 million, winner-take-all summer basketball event broadcast live on ESPN networks – today revealed that Blue Collar U, the Buffalo alumni team, received early entry into TBT 2022's 64-team field. Blue Collar U will be competing in TBT's Syracuse Regional at SRC Arena from July 22-25.
Blue Collar U's early acceptance is part of TBT's "Run It Back" Initiative, which gives any team that won at least one game in TBT 2021 the ability to receive automatic entry into this summer's field.
Featuring former Bulls stars such as C.J. Massinburg, Nick Perkins, and Wes Clark, Blue Collar U won the 2021 Columbus Regional and made it all the way to TBT's semifinals in just their first year playing in the event.
Former Buffalo men's basketball coaches Bryan Hodgson (general manager) and Adam Bauman (head coach) will once again organize the team in conjunction with assistant general managers Adam March and Wes Scheier.
Also competing in TBT's Syracuse Regional alongside Blue Collar U will be TBT 2021 champions and regional host Boeheim's Army, the Syracuse alumni team. The six remaining slots in the regional will be unveiled in June.
Blue Collar U's roster will also be announced at a later date.
