
Bulls Break Program and Invite Record at Zippy Invite

AKRON, Ohio – The University at Buffalo women's swimming and diving team (2-0, 2-0 MAC) finished in third place at the conclusion of the three-day Zippy Invite earning 1,355 points. Only Akron and Penn would finish ahead of the Bulls as the Zips earned 2,005 points and the Quakers earned 1,452 points.
To start the final day of the Zippy Invite was the 200 backstroke where Maddy McDonough claimed fourth place in 1:59.37. McDonough now ranks fourth in program history. Underclassmen Abbey Malmstrom and Mia Naccarella also qualified for the championship finals where Malmstrom finished seventh in 2:01.21 and M. Naccarella finished in 2:01.34, good for eighth.
Freestyle specialist Toni Naccarella claimed second in the 100 freestyle in 49.26-seconds, just half a second behind the eventual winner from Akron, Sarah Watson. Sawyer Bosley finished in seventh in 50.66-seconds. Ellie Duley was in the B-Finals where she finished 10th overall in 50.54-seconds.
Freshman Taeghen Brezovski finished in seventh in the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:17.06. She ranks ninth in program history. Kasey Keaney (15th place, 2:20.97) and Michaela Morgus (2:23.44) grabbed points for the Bulls in the B and C-Finals.
Clarice Fisher and Neeb finished fifth and sixth in the 200 fly with Fisher finishing in 2:00.81 and Neeb in 2:00.88. Neeb breaks in to the UB's top-10 list at eighth in the event.
To close out the invite, the Bulls won the 400 freestyle relay in style. The team of Jillian Lawton, Duley, Bosley, and T. Naccarella broke the program and Zippy Invite record with a time of 3:16.95. The previous invite record was set in 2018 as the program record was set in the 2019-20 season.

The Bulls will travel to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. for their winter training trip from Dec. 30 through Jan. 5. The team is back in competition on Saturday, Jan. 8 as they host Duquesne (4-1, 0-0 A-10) at 1 p.m.
