
Swim & Dive in Third Place After Day One of Zippy Invite

AKRON, Ohio – The University at Buffalo women's swimming and diving team (2-0, 2-0 MAC) finished day one of the Zippy Invite in third place with 475 points.
The Bulls had an explosive start to the finals session as they won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:29.82, a time that now ranks second in program history. Jillian Lawton, Toni Naccarella, Sawyer Bosley and Ellie Duley edged out the Akron Zips in a heavily contested race by just .24-seconds. Alicia Wood, Amanda Neeb, Grace Wood and Mia Naccarella claimed 10th place in 1:35.42.
Marij van der Mast finished fourth in the 500 freestyle in 4:55.41. Maddy Rogan (5:01.26) and Julia Boswell (5:01.79) competed in the bonus finals as they finished back-to-back for 19th and 20th.
In the 200 IM, senior Katie Pollock qualified for the consolation finals finishing in 12th place in 2:04.56. Freshman Taeghen Brezovski finished in a time of 2:04.18, good for 19th. Kasey Keaney finished in 22nd in 2:05.14.
In the 50 freestyle, the Bulls gave the old one-two punch with Lawton and T. Naccarella. Lawton won the event in 22.66-second with T. Naccarella just .09-seconds behind for second place. Duley finished in sixth in 23.08-seconds. Bosley claimed 14th place in the consolation final in 23.53-seconds with Pollock placing 22nd in the bonus finals.
UB had a dominance performance in the diving well as four Bulls made the finals. Victoria Franz won the 1-meter dive out of 28 divers scoring 295.40 and winning by nearly 30 points. Patricia Arceria finished in fourth place with a score of 254.65. Freshman Marialis Kwak scored 250.55 points for a fifth place finish as her classmate Presley Dorsett finished in seventh place with 243.55 points.
To close out the night, the squad of Maddy McDonough, Pollock, Lawton and T. Naccarella finished third in the 400 medley relay in 3:39.65.
