
Spann Named MAC Wrestler of the Week

BUFFALO, NY- Derek Spann, a 133-pounder on the University at Buffalo wrestling team, was named the Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week, the league announced on Thursday.
Spann earned a 19-1 technical fall over Binghamton's Christian Gannone in Buffalo's 17-16 win over the Bearcats. It was total domination by Spann who had three four-point near falls and a two-point near fall en route to ending the match midway through the second period. His bonus points proved to be the difference as the Bulls won the dual by a single point.
A native of Boonville, NY, Spann is 2-2 on the season and is currently 25th in the national rankings.
The Bulls will next face Edinboro and Gannon on Friday at Edinboro.
