
Murchie Family Fieldhouse Named 2019 Structural Project of the Year

BUFFALO, NY – The Murchie Family Fieldhouse was named the 2019 Structural Project of the Year by Western New York Branch of the American Public Works Association at the association's annual awards banquet on Thursday evening. It was recognized in the $5 million-$25 million project category.
The award promotes excellence in the management and administration of public works projects by recognizing the partnership between the managing agency and participating consultants and contractors.
Opened in 2019, the Murchie Family Fieldhouse is a 92,000 square foot indoor practice facility adjacent to UB Stadium. It houses a full-size turf football field, 6,000 feet of rubber sprinting tracks, a long jump pit, a pole vaulting pit and motorized suspended softball hitting tunnels. It also contains two multi-level indoor filming/viewing towers.
Albany-based CHA served as the architect on the project, while Rochester-based LeChase Construction served as the general contractor. The subcontractors that worked on this project were ASI Signage Innovations, Astroturf Corporation, Athletic Performance and Rigging, ATT Sports, Bedford Paving, Clean MD, Colortech Painting, CVF Inc., Elbers Landscape, Empire Granite and Marble, G&J Contracting, Hamburg Floor Covering, Hamburg Overhead Door, JW Danforth, Mader Construction, New York State Fence, Niagara Sealants, Northern Dreams Construction, Aqua Systems, Seneca Steel, Tedesco Construction, The RE Krug Company, Thomann Asphalt, Tiede-Zoeller Tile Corp., Toth Sports, Vogt Sprinkler Systems, Wargo Enterprises, Weydman Electric, Woodsmith Fence Corp. and Ziske-Kraftwerks Inc.
