Buffalo would hold the 7-0 lead at halftime.
Ohio marched down the field on its first possession of the second half to tie the game, 7-7. The Bobcats were driving again midway through the third quarter to take the lead, but linebacker Kadofi Wright came up with an interception at the UB nine to stymie the drive.
The defense came up big on Ohio's next possession when Malcolm Koonce got the strip sack of Ohio quarterback Nathan Rourke and it was recovered by Taylor Riggins at the Ohio 34-yard line. One play later, Vantrease connected with Antonio Nunn for a 34-yard touchdown to put the Bulls ahead, 14-7.
