Complete 2016-17 UB Women's Basketball Schedule
BUFFALO, NY – The defending Mid-American Conference tournament champion University at Buffalo women's basketball team led by fifth-year head coach Felisha Legette-Jack announced their 2016-17 schedule on Tuesday morning. The Bulls schedule is highlighted by 16 home games at Alumni Arena, two more than a season ago.
Fans will get their first chance to see the Bulls in action on Friday, November 4 as they play host to Bloomsburg in an exhibition match at 6:00 pm at Alumni Arena.
The Bulls will open up their 2016-17 regular season campaign with three straight home non-conference matches, starting with UMass on Friday, November 11 at 7:00 pm. The 2016 MAC Champions will unveil their championship banner prior to the game against the Minutewomen. The Bulls will then play host to a pair of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference members in Niagara and Manhattan. UB will take on Niagara on Wednesday, November 16 at 7:00 pm and Manhattan on Saturday, November 19 at 7:00 pm. Buffalo defeated Niagara on the road last season by the score of 57-48.
The Bulls will then hit the road for their first contest away from home on Tuesday, November 22 as they try to avenge a 79-62 loss to the Duquesne Dukes from a season ago at 1:00 pm. Duquesne advanced to the NCAA Tournament a season ago, losing in the second round to eventual National Champion UConn. UB will then return to Alumni Arena for three straight non-conference games as they play host to Sacred Heart on Saturday, November 26 at 7:00 pm, Central Florida on Thursday, December 1 at 7:00 pm and WNIT quarterfinalists Hofstra on Sunday, December 4 at 12:00 pm.
The Bulls will wrap up their non-conference slate with three of four on the road as they head to Big 4 foe Canisius on Thursday, December 8 for a 7:00 pm showdown. UB will then host Big 4 rival St. Bonaventure at Alumni Arena on Wedesnday, December 21 at 12:00 pm before heading to New York City for the Fordham University Tournament. The Bulls will play a pair of games at the Fordham Tournament, their first on Thursday, December 29 and the second on Friday, December 30. Opponents and game times are not set.
MAC play opens up on Saturday, December 31 for the Bulls as they will welcome Miami (OH) to Buffalo. As January hits, the Bulls will be on the road for four out of five MAC matches as they travel to Ohio on Wednesday, January 4 and Central Michigan for a rematch of the MAC Championship game from a season ago on Saturday, January 7. After hosting Toledo on Wednesday, January 11 the Bulls will be on the road against Miami (OH) on Saturday, January 14 and Bowling Green on Wednesday, January 18.
Buffalo will close out January with two of three matches at the friendly confines of Alumni Arena as they host Central Michigan on Saturday, January 21 and Ball State on Wednesday, January 25 before hitting the road against Western Michigan on Saturday, January 28.
After opening February on the road at Toledo on Wednesday, February 1, Buffalo will host five of their next six games at Alumni Arena starting with Kent State on Saturday, February 4. After a bye week, the Bulls will host Northern Illinois on Saturday, February 11 before heading to Ypsilanti, MI to take on Eastern Michigan on Wednesday, February 15. UB will then host Akron on Saturday, February 18, Ohio on Wednesday, February 22 and Bowling Green on Saturday, February 25.
The Bulls will wrap up their regular season slate with a pair of road games against Akron on Wednesday, March 1 and Kent State on Saturday, March 4.
The 2017 Mid-American Conference Tournament will again be held at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland from March 8-11. Frist round games will take place on campus sites on March 6.
