BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo wrestling coach John Stutzman announced the Bulls 2016-17 schedule on Tuesday. Highlighted by six home matches, the Bulls will also participate in the Grapple at the Garden, held at Madison Square Garden in November.
"This year's schedule is very challenging," Stutzman said. "With the majority of our team coming back, we look forward to taking that next step and this schedule provides us that opportunity. We are going to dual teams from the MAC, Big Ten, EWL and the EIWA. In addition, with the Northeast Journeyman Classic (now a round robin format), the New York State Collegiate Championships and the Lock Haven Invite, we will see a great blend of competition. We are also going to send a handful of guys to the Midlands. All in all, it's a very difficult schedule against some of the best teams in the country."
The Bulls open the season at the Journeymen Classic in Albany, NY on Nov. 13. UB will be facing off against grapplers from schools like North Carolina, NC State, Ohio State and Oklahoma to name just a few.
Buffalo's first dual of the season will take place at Cornell on Nov. 19. The Bulls will stay in Ithaca and compete at the New York State Collegiate Championships the following day.
The Bulls will close out the month of November by competing at the fifth annual Grapple at the Garden on November 27. UB will take on George Mason and Princeton at the famed Madison Square Garden.

Buffalo will close out 2016 at the Midland Championships, hosted by Northwestern, on December 29-30.
The Bulls will open the new year by hosting three straight duals. UB will host Columbia on Jan. 7, Sacred Heart on Jan. 8 and defending MAC Champion Missouri on Jan. 12.
After hitting the road for duals at Old Dominion (Jan. 20) and Hofstra (Jan. 28), the Bulls will return home for their final two duals at Alumni Arena. UB will host Eastern Michigan on Feb. 3 and Central Michigan on Feb. 5.
Buffalo will close out the schedule with duals at Northern Iowa (Feb. 10), Northern Illinois (Feb. 12) and Binghamton (Feb. 17).
