Bulls Compete at the CAA Championships

MERCER, NJ – The University at Buffalo women's rowing team competed at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships on Mercer Lake in New Jersey on Sunday. The Bulls finished sixth overall. Northeastern took home the title.
With impending poor weather conditions, the first race started a 6 am. The day began with the Varsity 8 race. The Bulls finished sixth with a time of 7:03.12. The Varsity 8 boat was made up of Courtney Donovan, Clare Costello, Samantha Paige, Meghan O'Brien, Juliana Gomez, Mackenzie Turpin, Erin O'Connell, Sophie Wisoff and Colleen Patterson.
The Second Varsity 8 boat of Ally Mayo, Erica Tenteromano, Rylee James, Allyssa Cotton, Maddy Saporito, Tracey Zajac, Jillian Michael, Maddie Sheffield and Stephanie Busha finished fifth with a time of 7:18.794.
The Varsity 4 boat took fourth place with a time of 7:57.420 and missed finishing third by only three seconds. The Varsity 4 boat consisted of Caeleigh Heavey, Elle Good, Elizabeth Shilling, Hayley Nieves and Ankita Kelkar.
Finally, the Third Varisty 8 boat finished fourth with a time of 7:24.943, just one second out of third. The 3V8 boat was made up of Melissa Stein, Anna Sviripa, Sarah Brill, Veronica Czarnik, Emma Napper, Paige Krohn, Sara Jakiel, Leia Smith and Dania Abul-Enin.
At the conclusion of racing, Samatha Paige was named to the All-CAA team and Erica Tenteromano was named to the CAA All-Academic Team.
