BROOKLINE, MA – The University at Buffalo baseball team completed its Spring Break trip with an 8-4 loss to Northeastern on Sunday afternoon.
The Huskies scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and lead through out the contest. UB got on the board in the top of the second as Chris Kwitzer hit a one-out home run over the left field fence. It was the last time UB would get on the scoreboard before the ninth inning.
Northeastern built an 8-1 lead with single runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh before adding two more in the eighth, but the Bulls had one last push in the ninth.
UB loaded the bases with one away in the top of the inning as Ben Vey drew a bases loaded walk to drive in a run. A wild pitch brought in Kwitzer from third and then an RBI groundout by Eddie Edwards III drove in the third run of the inning.
Shawn Dubin picked up the loss as he went 4.0 innings and struck out five. Brandon Mumaw and Andrew White also saw time on the bump.
The Bulls had six hits on the afternoon, led by a 2-for-4 performance from Kwitzer, who scored two of the four runs.
UB returns to Western New York and will head to Canisius on Tuesday afternoon for a 3:15pm first pitch.
