Solid Results for UB Wrestling at the Journeyman Classic

ALBANY, NY - The University at Buffalo wrestling team kicked off the 2016-17 campaign at the Journeyman Classic in Albany, NY on Sunday. Going up against some of the top competition in the nation, UB grapplers went a combined 27-13 and had five wrestlers go undefeated.
"We had a pretty good showing for the first weekend out," head coach John Stutzman said. "We beat guys from Wisconsin, North Carolina, Minnesota, Arizona State, and Ohio State. We are making progress and this event shows us just that."
Bryan Lantry (133), Blake Retell (133), Muhamed McBryde (174), Autin Weigel (174) and Nolan Terrance (285) went undefeated for the Bulls.
Lantry won by a 10-2 major decision over Alexander Rinaldi of North Carolina and a 7-1 decision over Wisconsin's Eli Stickly.
Retell went 3-0, highlighted by a pin of Tyler Walsh of LIU. He also earned decisions over Robert Elliot of West Virginia and Joe Ghione of Lock Haven.
McBryde also swept his three opponents rather impressively. He shut out Gavin Caprio of Lock Haven, 6-0; won a 7-4 decision over Seth Williams of Ohio State and won a major decision over Cortland's Joseph Puca, 15-6.
Weigel won three straight decisions on the afternoon. He first won a 7-0 decision over Ty Millward of West Virginia followed by a 10-3 decision over LIU's Dan Arkow and a 4-0 decision over Ithaca's Jasison White.
Nolan Terrance cruised through his three matches, not giving up a single point. He shut out Bryson Begley of West Virginia, 5-0 and followed with a pin of Cortland's Rob Kelly. In his final match, he took a 4-0 decision over Matt Booth of Ithaca.
Jason Estevez (2-1), Colt Cotten (2-1), Derek Holcomb (2-1), Brett Perry (2-1) and James Benjamin (2-1) also posted winning records for the Bulls.
Buffalo will wrestle in its first dual next Sunday at Cornell.
