
Men's Swimming and Diving Defeat West Virginia, Fall to No. 6 Michigan, No. 15 Ohio State

COLUMBUS, OHIO - The UB men's swimming and diving team participated in a quad meet at Ohio State against Big 10 foes, Ohio State, Michigan, and West Virginia. Buffalo defeated West Virginia 176-136, but fell to the No. 15 Buckeyes, 237-76, and No. 6 Michigan, 229-76. Overall, the quad meet allowed the men's team to face top competition in the nation as the prepare for the MAC Championships in early March.
Overall, the Bulls finished in the top-five six times. Additionally, UB were the only team to compete in the one-meter dive with the Big 10 foes participating in the platform dive instead. In the three-meter dive Derek Linebaugh finished third with a distance of 323.10, which is a season-best score.
Itai De La Vega swam to a third-place finish in the 100 yard breastroke with a time of 55.25. Mason Miller placed fifth in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 20.60. In a close race in the 200 yard breaststroke, Garrett Clarke finished with a time of 2:01.23 which was good enough for fifth place.
UB placed fourth in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:30.09. Mason Miller, Antonio Lanzi, Martin Leigh, and Aaron Durrence swam 3:03.17 to place fourth in the 400 yard freestyle.
The Bulls are next in action next week with a match at St. Bonaventure on Friday before hosting Cleveland State for Senior Day on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
