
Schueler Hired as Novice Assistant Coach

BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo, the State University of New York women's rowing head coach Sandy Calfo has announced the addition of Lauren Schueler to her staff. Schueler will serve as the novice assistant coach.
Schueler comes to UB from the University of Oklahoma where she was the Assistant Director of National Education for Women's (N.E.W.) Leadership at the Carl Albert Congressional Research and Studies Center. Schueler coordinated the N.E.W. Leadership program that seeks to address the historical under-representation of women in politics and public service. She also managed social media for the center and helped to organize other programs housed at the Carl Albert Center: Pipeline to Politics and the Civic Engagement Fellows.
"We are very excited to have Lauren join our staff," said Calfo. "Her love of the sport and enthusiasm for rowing will make her a great asset to our program."
In addition to working full-time at OU's Carl Albert Center, Schueler was a volunteer coach with the Oklahoma's women's rowing team from 2012-2015. Schueler worked with the novice team during her first two years and transitioned to varsity for the 2014-15 season. During her time with the Sooners, the team captured back-to-back Big XII and Conference USA titles and went on to race at the NCAA Championships.
Schueler is a graduate of the University of Central Florida where she was a member of the lightweight women's rowing team from 2005-2009. During her time there, UCF won the Dennis Kamrad Trophy for first place in the women's lightweight eight at the Dad Vail Regatta and received academic recognition from the NCAA.
Schueler holds a master's degree in education with a concentration in intercollegiate athletic administration from the University of Oklahoma.
A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Schueler began her rowing career at Shaler Area High School and rowed for the Steel City Rowing Club through high school and the summers during college. She earned a third place finish in the intermediate women's lightweight double at the Canadian Henley Regatta and a second place finish in the intermediate women's lightweight quad at USRowing National Championships.
