Joe Ariola Takes Home Second Place At University Nationals

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo, the State University of New York sophomore wrestler Joe Ariola concluded his weekend at the University Nationals Greco Roman Championships with a second place finish.
Ariola had a strong second place showing at the University Nationals after a strong sophomore campaign for the Bulls last season. The Illinois native found a home for the Bulls late last season at 184-pounds, finishing the season with an overall record of 14-11 and a dual mark of 8-6 while earning a 2-1 record in his final three matches at 184.
Freshman Jake Gunning also had a strong showing this weekend as he took home fourth place, earning a spot in the USA Wrestling World Team trials along with fellow freshman Kyle Akins and Ariola.
The USA Wrestling World Team trials will be held at the Coliseum at Alliant Energy Center in Madison, WI on June 12-14.
