Bulls Earn a Pair of Bronze Medals at CAA Championship

WEST WINDSOR, NJ – The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York earned two bronze medals en route to a third-place finish at the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rowing Championship held on Sunday at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, NJ. Northeastern swept the races to win the overall title for the second straight year.
UB's Varsity 8 and Junior Varsity 8 boats each won the bronze medal, posting third place finishes. The Varsity 8 boat of Ally Mayo, Colleen Patterson, Alexa Shoiock, Samantha Paige, Jessica Levy, Meghan O'Brien, Justine Bottorff, Sara-Ann Fox and Paige Krohn finished with a time of 6:47.3. Northeastern won the race with a time of 6:38.4.
The Junior Varsity 8 boat earned their bronze medal with a time of 7:06.2. The boat was made up of Courtney Donovan, Katie Coffin, Clare Costello, Mackenzie Turpin, Rylee James, Allyssa Cotten, Erin O'Connell and Alyssa Gabel. The Bulls secured the bronze medal by seven seconds ahead of Delaware.
The Varsity 4 boat of Anna Sviripa, Rebecca McGinn, Elizabeth Shilling, Jordyn Phillips and Caeleigh Heavey finished fifth in their race with a time of 8:00.1.
For the first time this year, there was a Third Varsity 8 race and the Bulls finished fourth with a time of 7:19.5. The boat consisted of Marissa Scaduto, Mikayla Murdock, Juliana Gomez, Madeline Sheffield, Stephanie Edmonds, Tracey Zajac, Audrey Jelstrom, Jessica Hart and Ankita Kelkar.
Individual awards were also handed out on Sunday and Levy and Paige were named to the All-CAA Team. In addition, Coffin earned CAA All-Academic accolades.
Final Results
1. Northeastern – 36 pts.
2. Drexel – 30 pts.
3. Buffalo – 22 pts.
4. Eastern Michigan – 17 pts.
5. Delaware – 15 pts.
